Introduction to PPI
The YCRN are working with the Leeds Cancer Centre, Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre Network (St James University Hospital, Leeds),
What is Patient and Public Involvement (PPI)?
PPI is about you sharing the experience you have gained as a cancer patient, or, carer of a cancer patient, with researchers who have experience of developing clinical trials.
Each group has different but equally important knowledge to bring and we need to ensure that that knowledge is taken into account when developing new research ideas.
Why?
It has been recognised for some considerable time that it is advantageous to engage patients and the general public in the field of clinical research other than as research participants.
If you want to know why it is important for patients and members of the public to get involved in cancer research click HERE to watch a clip.
